REVIEW Yamaha YZF R25: The Everyday Superbike

You know, it is very rare to see any Yamaha R25 in my place, Sabah. Maybe it is a brand new brand. But there are many riders asking about how good this bike is.  have been searching the bike since few weeks ago and still din't catch any.

So when they ask me about it, I can't give any pro and cons based on my experience, but I still can give info about it when I do the research via internet.  So here we go.

Yamaha YZF R25: The Everyday Super Bike. That is official tag line for this bike. It means you can use ii in daily ride, to go work, and city ride where there are a lot of traffic jammed. She also comes with three different colours; Red, Blue and Black

Technical Spec:
  • Engine Displacement: 250 cc
  • Engine Type : Twin Parallel Cylinders, & valves DOHC Four Stroke, Liquid Cooling.
  • Maximum Power: 32.5 Horse power
  • Maximum Torque: 22.1 NM
  • Top Speed: 171 KPH (Claimed by Yamaha Malaysia)
  • Fuel Tank: 14.3 litters
  • Kerb Weight: 166 kg
  • Transmission: 6 gear manual
  • Frame: Diamond Tubular Frame
  • Fuel System: EFI

PROS
  1. Powerful
A 250 cc bike with 35 horse power? Its quite fast to me even it claimed can only reach 171 kph, but I personally think that this Yamaha YZF R25 can go more than 171 kph. This super bike even qualified in Moto GP 3 Racing.
  2. Good Facelift
Good speed must comes with good look. This nice facelift is totally different with R15, R6, and R1. She has her own beauty. And one more thing, girls do love it.
  3. Reliable
Its Yamaha, man. Yamaha is known to their quality that build for lifetime. And the spare parts are ready stock too. So you don't have to worry about it.
  4. Good Price
The price is just RM 19,000.00 OTR. She is much cheaper than Kawasaki Ninja 250R, and same price with Honda CBR 250r and Kawasaki Z250. but compared to these two bikes, Yamaha R25 is much more worthy.
  5. Super Light
The new designed lightweight, compact and slim chassis, Yamaha R25 is just 177 kg of kerb weight, makes her among the lightest bike of 250 cc twin cylinders.
  6. Daily Use
During the lunching in mid 2005,and asked them what they say about YZF R25, the Yamaha replied "A super bike for everyday." It means this bike designed to handle the traffice jammed's pressure, and can be used everyday to go work.

(The Yamaha R25 lunching (Left) together with Yamaha R6 (right)

CONS
  1. Poor Accelerations.
Even she is powerful in top speed, but in acceleration, she's a bit slower compared to her rivals, Kawasaki 250R, and Hyosung /Naza Blade GTR 250,
  2. Low Brightness
Her headlamp could be has some problem with the brightness. This is projector headlamp, it suppose to brighter than bulb. I hope Yamaha could fix this.

So I hope is can help you guys if you gonna purchase this. Remember those info comes from internet. I cannot give you my opions about this since I never ride this yet. But for sure, this is one good bike for starter, or experienced riders too.
Have a nice day, people!

LOSE WEIGHT: Superbike Weight Reduction

Recently, there is a trend where riders are going to lose weight their motorcycle. Why? I mean the motorcycles already super light compared to car. But all of them said that the weight reduction are for speed, speed and speed. But this is me. If they asked me, I will do research for them.

But too bad my super bike still break down since last month, so I won't able to experience the weight reduction myself. So I use the internet to do my own research, without my super bike.

Weight Reduction is losing weight of your bike, can bring you into many positive result. Lose weight means your motorcycle is:

  • Improved Accelerations.
  • Better Top Speed
  • Fast Cornering
  • 1 lbs./ 3 KG you lose =  1 horse power you gain

Losing weight can be done by many ways. Either replacing prats, or removing parts from your super bike. The tips are simple. All you can do is:

  1. Purchasing Racing Parts. Most of racing parts are light weight. For example, you can buy a light weight brake rotor, or light weight exhaust piping.
  2. After Market Body Work. Try to be creative. Your stock fairing body can be replaced to a carbon-fiber fairing. But it will cost you much. So if you still want to change your fairing, you can use fiber instead. Much cheaper but easily crack.
  3. Lighter Fuel Tank. If your fuel tank is completely a steel, it will heavy your super bike. But by changing it into aluminium tank/ composite or simple a plastic fuel tank could make your bike much more lighter than before.
  4. Lighter Battery. A battery could be small, but for big bike, they require bigger battery. So choose your battery carefully. Bigger battery doesn't have to be heavier ones.
  5. Right Size of Tyre. When your bike stock tyre's size is 130/70-17, so stay close with that size. don't ever change it into 190/70-17. Don't even try.
That is the most simple way to do. Replacing your performance parts are more efficient than just changing the body parts. But if you are the newbie, don't try replacing the performance parts without study about it first. You doing it wrong, then it will lead you into disaster. Just change the body parts first to make it lighter. Here I give you the difference between racing parts, and body parts

PERFORMANCE PARTS

  1. Light Body Frame
  2. Light Brake Rotor
  3. Light Weight Suspensions
  4. Tank with Kelver
  5. Light Weight Battery
  6. Lighter Crank Case
BODY PARTS

  1. Carbon or Fiber Fairing
  2. Super Light Handle Bar
  3. Custom Piping
  4. Good Size of Tyre

(Fully Carbon Fairing)

(Super Light Body Frame)

(Yamaha R1's Super Light Tank)

(Lighter Brake Rotors)

(Lighter Crank case, but be careful not purchase the cheap ones)

(Super light handle Bar Frame)

(Light Weight Battery. Pick Anti-Gravity)

(Wrong size of tyre will make your bike much heavier)

Hello! The BMW Auto Show is back. Of course they display both car and motorcycle. This event was last week, but I only have chance to post it today. Sorry for the delay. The location of this event is at Suria Sabah, Kota Kinabalu. Located Centre of the city. And this event  starts from 8 May 2015, ends at 10 May 2015.

Here, they display at least 6 cars and 3 super bikes. The cars here are BMW M3, BMW M6, BMW X6, BMW M7 and BMW M5 Series. While those super bikes are BMW GS 1200 Adventure. BMW GS 800 Adventure and BMW G600GS

The BMW GS 1200 Adventure is the biggest off road super bike that ever produced by BMW. The cost is RM 130,000.00. But of course, its featuring ABS, Control Stabilizer, and many others that not featured by other off road touring bikes. I have been done review of this bike, but that is 2013 model. (Another photo from top)

The BMW GS 800 is really close to his brother, the BMW GS 1200, except this has smaller engine, and cheaper price tag. But even it has smaller engine, this bike still can take most off road surfaces. So if you not ready to ride the BMW GS 1200 yet, take this instead. The price is RM 76,000.00.

(No, I'm not looking at sales girl)

REVIEW: BMW GS1200- The 'Bring Me Women' Superbike

Wow! A hot girl with hot bike. Its BMW touring bike. The GS 1200 is a touring bike from BMW, for off road and long distance ride as well. I have been ride this bike. It was too tall. This is the biggest bike I ever ride so far. Riding in 30 minutes give me a lot of informations to share. This information is from myself. For those who ride this more than a year, might have  different reviews. But if you planning upgrading to this bike, I have the pro and cons for you. One more thing, this bike in on list of Top Ten Best Motorcycle Carrying Passenger.

But before we go to pros and cons, Let's have a quick specification about this bike. This BMW that I reviewed is a 2013 model. It has four stroke engine system. Two cylinders horizontally opposed BOXER, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder, and has liquid cooling system. The dry weight is 205 kg but a wet height is around 238 kg. Seriously a very heavy bike. The fuel tank is 20 litters with 4 litters of reserve. And the top speed claimed reach 218 kph. But so far I only reach 178 kph at Coastal Highway, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Now, let's move to the pro and cons!

PROS
  1. Very Stable
While you riding fast either in the street or off road. These bike are heavy makes it easier to control while taking corner. By changing to right tyre while off road, this bike is very stable even in dirt, or mud or across small river.
  2. Reliability.
You know. Its BMW. Expensive spare parts but give you peace in mind, The quality of those parts are awesome. Make sure you purchase original parts if you want your bike to last long.
  3. Comfortable.
Simple: Relaxed. Comfortable. Yet exciting to ride.
  4. Good Height.
With this kind of bike, it can handle a big guy, or a tall guy like me.
  5. Good Fuel Consumption
Full tank can makes you travel at least 400 km to 500 km before your next stop. So you do the math.

CONS
  1. Engine Technical Error
While riding, I don't encounter any problems, at all. But before this, the owner told me that this bike has missing the big flywheel, off-idle torque of the Air Head. I don't know how bad was this error but he manage to fix it, so it should be no problem.
  2. Very Expensive
Compare to another hyper motard bike, this could be much expensive compared toKTM 1190 Adventure R, or Ducati Hyper Motard, or Kawasaki Versys 1200.

So that's all about my review today. Big thanks to the owner for allowing me using his bike to review. So I hope that my review could give you some guides if you planning to purchase this BMW GS 1200 soon. Have a nice day!

HyperBike4U (Final Edition of Bike4u)

Welcome to May~ Hyper Bike or Sport Bike, is ultimate bike in motorcycle world. Hyper Bike means a bike above 650 cc. The most powerful super bike machine and it takes a lot of skill to handle it. If you are newbie beginner you can refer my article Bike4U , or if you upgrade it into super bike, refer to Superbike4U. This Hyper Bike is the super expensive bike, most fastest bike and the world class executive bike. Make sure you know what are you purpose purchasing any one of these bikes.

Before you get any sport bike or hyper bike, think why you buy this bike. Daily use? for speed? or race? Maybe riding in long distance? If you had figure what bike suit for you, the next thing is think about the maintenance for the bike. One thing I can sure you, the spare parts are expensive and very rare. If you ready physically and mentally, well here we go!

  1. Speed
(Best Choice : Yamaha R1, Suzuki GSR)

Yamaha R1 is in 6th position of Top 10 World's Fastest Motorcycle, whie Suzuki GSR is not on the list, but still many riders pick these two powerful bike for fast riding. But remember, this is fast bike but if you want to race bike, these are not recommended because race bike is not just about speed.

    (The Yamaha R1 2015)

    (And Suzuki GSR 1000)

  2. Race
(Best Choice: Kawasaki ZX-10R, BMW 1100RR)

What so different the racing bike and the fast bike? Well, like I said, speed is not everything. Racing bikes has racing spec, so these kind of bikes can be ride very fast, in very long way. You can stay close at the top speed in 10 minutes and more, while others bike cannot do so.

The first choice is Kawasaki ZX-10R. We all know this is way to fast. Complete with racing spec, you can ride like crazy. But I recommended you to do this only on the track. It could be dangerous to do this on the road. That is what racing bike about. Tack use only. If you want to ride at the road, don't get the top speed. Don't event try.

By the way, BWM 1100 RR also the one of the best racing bike available. The price are expensive though. But this bike is worth. You can get 100 kph in just less than 4 seconds. Amazing, right?

    (The Kawasaki ZX-10R)

(And BWM 1100RR. Be ready for racing bike!)

  3. Touring with Speed
(Best Choice: Kawasaki ZX-14R GTR, Suzuki Hayabusa)

There are three types of touring. Touring in long distance with speed, or relaxing ride by touring in style and off road touring. If you like to long distant ride with speed, then you going to need either Kawasaki ZX-14R, or known as Kawasaki GTR, or Suzuki Hayabusa

Kawasaki GTR is using latest technology and help you to ride with cruise control, better safety and not to forget, the fast bike as well.  Your long distant ride will be comfortable. Kawasaki GTR is on 4th position in Top 10 World's Fastest Superbike.

The Suzuki Hayabusa is the second fastest in the world after Dodge Tomahawk, and the number one fastest bike in Malaysia. So, with this kind of speed, its better be a long distant. You can easily reach your destination faster than you expected. Plus the riding position is really comfortable.

    (Kawasaki ZX-14R)

    And the HAYABUSA!!

  4. Touring with Style
(Best Choice: Harley Davidson Fatboy, Sportster, Street Glide)

And then you like style compared to speed, so I suggest you go to for Harley Davidson. Many Harley Davidson bikes are easy ride. Just different kind of bike. Such as Street Glide has biggest wind shield, and Sportster only has one seater. But again, its all about style. And I can sure you this. Harley Davidson bikes are way too expensive. But if you really want it bad, go for it. There are no review from me about Harley Davidson so far, so I can't give you more detail about this bike, just only suggestions.

(Harley Davidson Fat Boy. Terminator Official Bike)

(Harley Davidson Sportster, the single seater easy ride motorcycle)

(Harley Davidson Street Glide. Biggest Wind Shield, Big storage compartments, Unlimited Passion)

  5. Off Road Touring
(Best Choice: Ducati Multistrada and Ducati Hypermotard)

Both Multistrada and Hypermotard are best hyper bike for both touring and off road. Of course there are others brand like BMW KS1200, but in Malaysia, these Multistrada and Hypermotard used a lot in off road touring. The price for these bike are below RM 100,000.00 makes it best value of money.

Ducati Hypermotard usually for off road use only

But Ducati Multistrada can be used for both off road and touring

  6. Fancy
(Best Choice: Ducati Paniegale, Aprilia RSV

Ducati known for the brand, and the price tag, while Aprilia known for speed. THese thwo bikes are exotic. Came from Europe with high price. Ducati Paniegale 1299R is around RM 120,000.00 in Malaysia. And the Aprilia are around RM 90,000.00 ++. Its expensive, but also fancy. So if you have extra money, and want to look fancy, these bikes can attract a lot of attentions. About speed, the Ducati Paniegale is 10th place in world fastest super bike while Aprilia is 4th place.

(Ducati Paniegale, the well known brand)

And the fastest fancy bike, Aprilia Mille RSV

(This is the first version of RSV Mille)

  7. Daily Use and City Ride
Best Choice: Kawasaki Z800 and Ducati Diavel

Daily use and city ride is not really recommended since it may causes your bike overheat. But if you have to, its must be a naked bike. I'm not saying it will never overheat, but the risk for that are low. So kawasaki Z800 and Ducati Monster should be in your list.

The price also good since Kawasaki Z800 are below RM 50,000.00 but Ducati Diavel cost you more since it is above RM 100,000.00 especially the Carbon Edition. So do your math before purchasing these bike.

Start with Kawasaki Z800, the most cheapest Hyperbike available

And the world's most executive Naked Bike: Ducati Diavel

  8. Leader and Marshall
    (Best Choice: Honda Gold Wing)

Are you real 'OTAI' or a group leader that like to lead a convoy? And you are really wanted a comfortable bike, bigger space, fancy and fast at same time? Well that is what leader need and your answer will be Honda Gold Wing.

With big space compartment, biggest engine than any super bike, suitable for marshal and convoy leader, and not to mention, it gives you a very comfortable ride. This bike has LCD radio and air conditioner as well. Man, This one really close to a car. But its also very expensive. you need a lot of experiences to handle this bike.

Alright, that's all. This is the post and took longest time for me to do. Done a lot of researches. And these bike are recommended in Malaysia only. Maybe its different in others country. So if you have a lot of experiences and money to purchase any of these hyperbike, I hope my guide helped you in purchasing any of these bike. So have a nice day!
