LOSE WEIGHT: Superbike Weight Reduction

Recently, there is a trend where riders are going to lose weight their motorcycle. Why? I mean the motorcycles already super light compared to car. But all of them said that the weight reduction are for speed, speed and speed. But this is me. If they asked me, I will do research for them.

But too bad my super bike still break down since last month, so I won't able to experience the weight reduction myself. So I use the internet to do my own research, without my super bike.

Weight Reduction is losing weight of your bike, can bring you into many positive result. Lose weight means your motorcycle is:

  • Improved Accelerations.
  • Better Top Speed
  • Fast Cornering
  • 1 lbs./ 3 KG you lose =  1 horse power you gain

Losing weight can be done by many ways. Either replacing prats, or removing parts from your super bike. The tips are simple. All you can do is:

  1. Purchasing Racing Parts. Most of racing parts are light weight. For example, you can buy a light weight brake rotor, or light weight exhaust piping.
  2. After Market Body Work. Try to be creative. Your stock fairing body can be replaced to a carbon-fiber fairing. But it will cost you much. So if you still want to change your fairing, you can use fiber instead. Much cheaper but easily crack.
  3. Lighter Fuel Tank. If your fuel tank is completely a steel, it will heavy your super bike. But by changing it into aluminium tank/ composite or simple a plastic fuel tank could make your bike much more lighter than before.
  4. Lighter Battery. A battery could be small, but for big bike, they require bigger battery. So choose your battery carefully. Bigger battery doesn't have to be heavier ones.
  5. Right Size of Tyre. When your bike stock tyre's size is 130/70-17, so stay close with that size. don't ever change it into 190/70-17. Don't even try.
That is the most simple way to do. Replacing your performance parts are more efficient than just changing the body parts. But if you are the newbie, don't try replacing the performance parts without study about it first. You doing it wrong, then it will lead you into disaster. Just change the body parts first to make it lighter. Here I give you the difference between racing parts, and body parts
