Riding Gear

Well, I guess its been a while since my last post. Quite a busy time I have recently. But, here I am again, to post another boring article. Hehehe. So now we will talk about riding gear. Everyone know about safety but did everyone do whatever it takes to maximize thier safety while riding big bikes?
Here some basic items for safety riding gear

  1. Helmet
  2. Jacket
  3. Glove
  4. Pants
  5. Boots
HELMET
We start with the basic ones. Helmet. Every motorcyclist requires to wear it all the time while you ride. This law applied all over the world. Basically, in Malaysia, its cost you the price around RM70-RM3000, depending on the type of helmet, and the brand.

(This usually used by Motard Riders)

(This type of helmet usually used by Cruse or Easy Ride Riders)

( Full Face Helmet. Highly recommended for those who rides Super Bike or any fast big bike)

JACKET
After unsure that your head and face are fully protected, now its time to take care your body. Safety jacket also important to all riders. Some of the safety jacket has light reflection, which is highly recommended to those who travel at night. In Malaysia, the cost is RM100 to RM1000++, depends on the type and brand as well.

Motard Style

(For off road where mostly used by Motard Riders. It has chest protector and designed for adsorb fall impact)

GP Style
(This jacket used by most super bikers and fast big bikes. Design to adsorb damage that caused by speed. Some of it contains elbow guard)

Easy Ride Style
(For those who 'Style Comes First', this is your choice. Built using leather component, and become a good choice for those who ride easy ride and cruise big bikes.)

GLOVE
Gloves are important too. Its protect your fingers, and your hand. Technically its all about style, but it can be your safety to if you wear this glove. You can din those glove in price around Rm50++ to Rm500.

(There are different types of glove available but I strongly recommended you to wear the full glove because it protects your fingers as well.)

PANTS
Pants could be important, but least concern. Any pants could be as long that you wear long pants. If you not using the one that design for super bike, you can just simply use jeans or long pants, as long that you wear knee protector.
But If you have extra money why don't you just buy the one that designed for super bike. It has knee protector as well so its more safe for you if you wear this on your riding.

)This leather pants usually used by easy ride or cruise rider)
(And this type of pants usually used by who love to ride fast)

If you don't have specific pants, knee guard will do. But make sure you have the fully protected ones.

BOOT
Boot is the easiest or cheapest riding gear that you must have. If you can't afford to own boot, you just can wear shoes. It doesn't matter as long that you not using slipper or bare foot. But a pair of boot is strongly recommended to you since shoes only protect you feet, not your ankles. But boot protects bot of your feet and ankles. So have some money, get you own boot. In Malaysia you can find around RM120 to RM550.

This boots are for super bikers or motard riders.
This stylist boots are for easy riders or cruiser riders that who love to ride in style.

CONCLUSIONS

(Just click the photo to enlarge if the images not so clear)

    So let's jump to our conclusion. What is your reason not to wear complete riding gear? Expensive? If you say these are expensive and not worth, lets compare this;

Cost for riding gear (Lets take the cheapest but recommended one)
  • Helmet (RM300)
  • Jacket (RM450)
  • Glove (RM120)
  • Pants (RM200)
  • Boots (RM150)
Total (RM1,220)
But how about you without safety riding gear

  • Without helmet (RM300) you lost eyes, skull and brains.
  • Without jacket (RM450) you lost heart, lungs, ribs, liver and stomach also your arm are fully exposed.
  • Without glove (RM120) you lost fingers and hand, which is much valuable.
  • Without pants (RM200) you might lost you knee, and also expensive damage to your @#%. Its you important part, man!
  • Without your boots (RM150) you lost your feet and ankles.
So think again. Motorcycle has high risk than car. Don't be that cheap. Just think how much it cost you if you lost any of your organ in you body. A heart could be RM100,000. That if only anyone wants to sell it to you. So be safe riders. Have a nice day!

ER6-F Broken Valve

We all know that Kawasaki ER6-F and ER6-N are identical engine system. The only difference is, ER-6F are full-fairing and the ER6-N is Naked or street fighter version. Same engine, same system. But why, ER6-F are always got problem, broken valve, but never with ER6-N?

(Sample of broken valve)

For those who rides Kawasaki ER6-F, you should realize that ER6-F are TOURING BIKE, and not RACING BIKE or SUPER BIKE, she has no RACING SPEC and NEVER DESIGN for hardcore speed. Most people think super bike with full fairing are racing bike. No, you are wrong. ER6-N rider knows that naked are not for speed, that is why they never push their bike as Kawasaki ER6-F rider.
If you want to ride fast in ER6-F, simple, Start from slow and gradually reach 200 kph. You can reach it in less than 20 seconds. You don't need a quick start like others racing bike. ER6-F is not like them. So please do take care of her.
In Malaysia, there are a lot of Kawasaki Service Center. Of cause they will change your broken valve into a new one for free. If you running out of warranty, others shop or search at mudah.my and its gonna cost you some money. But how long this will continue? You do love your super bike, right? ER6-F is a fantastic bike. Many people wish to have one. Including me. Hehe.. That all for today. Have a nice day.

Some of it, lead to fatal result.
But not to scare the hell out of you. here some good info for those who wish to start a new life, as a big big biker.

To me, Blade are useful for daily use. As its easier to maintain, fuel save, and can be ridden in urban traffic. But if you have extra budgets, I suggest you to look over another models of super bikes.
By the way, if you are Ducati die hard fans, but cannot afford to own one, then you should buy this Blade. In Malaysia, a lot of riders converted their Naza Blade to 1199 Ducati. Nice touch!

This could be yours if you wanted a reliable motorcycle for long time. A 250r of superbike is suitable for urban daily use. So if you own this cheap but good quality super bike, youu can use it for daily use or weekend use. 4. Kawasaki Z250
Naked version of Ninja 250r, Four stroke, twin parallel cylinders Double Overhead Cam, liquid cooled, and has 6 speed of transmission.

  5. Kawasaki Ninja 250rr

Kawasaki Ninja 250r, Four stroke, twin parallel cylinders Double Overhead Cam, liquid cooled, EFI, and has 6 speed of transmission.
This is the expensive 250cc in Malaysia. Also the number 1 250cc in Malaysia. Ninja 250r, the people's choice. This is very suitable for beginner. Has good on both speed and style. Malaysian Police Motorcycle

Okey. We talked much about our superbike. Now its time to talk about motorcycle that used by Polis Di Raja Malaysia (PDRM), the Traffic Unit in Malaysia. These units established since 25 March 1805, but officially under their Malaysian Government since 1967. Since then, they using cars and motorcycles for patrolling. These are the model of motorcycle that used by PDRM Traffic Division since 1967 until today.

  1. Honda CBX 750 (1988-present)

The CBX750, or RC17 is a Honda Motorcycle sold primarily in Europe, South Africa and Australia. Manufactured from 1984 to 1988, the CBX750 was developed from the CB750, in parallel with the VF750, a wholly new design. It is also used for motorcycle police in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Turkey, Gibraltar and Ireland. The pre-1988 CBX750 had a 16-inch-diameter (410 mm) front wheel, which restricts replacement tire choice.

For police mode, like others country, CBX750P used same engine as Honda CBX750 but it is physically more similar to Honda CB700SC with shaft drive. However, unlike the Honda CB700SC, CBX750P uses a slipper clutch (back-torque limiter) and diaphragm spring to engage clutch. The motorcycle also has 4 safety guards (2 on each side), a meter-stop option (to record top speed), loud speakers, and no fuel gauge.

  2. Honda VRF 800 (2000-present)

Introduced by PDRM Trafic Divisions in early 2000, Honda VRF 800 has been used for traffic, patrol, pursuit, escort, interceptor (black bike with rider and pillion; black colored, used by Pasukan Gerakan Khas, a.k.a. Special Operation Command, the counter-terrorist units).

The Honda VFR800, also known in some markets as the Interceptor, is a motorcycle sold by Honda since 1998 featuring a V-4 engine configuration shared with the Honda VF and VFR family of motorcycles. The VFR features heavier construction and a more upright riding position than a pure sport bike, though lower than a cruiser. Lighter and more aggressive than a pure touring bike, the "viffer" revived the category known as the sport touring bike, the first created by the BMW R100RS.

  3. Honda ST13000 (2003-present)

Introduced by PDRM Trafic Divisions in mid of  2003, same like Honda VRF 800, Honda ST13000  has been used for traffic, patrol, pursuit, escort, interceptor (black bike with rider and pillion; black colored, used by Pasukan Gerakan Khas, a.k.a. Special Operation Command, the counter-terrorist units)
The Honda ST1300 is a fully-faired touring motorcycle which proves that the performance that comes with a sport bike and the luxury associated with a long-distance tour are not mutually exclusive goals. In fact, they can coexist quite happily on one motorcycle, and the ST1300 ABS proves it. This is a great bike for those who want to ride many miles in comfort and security without sacrificing bad-boy power and performance.
  4. Modenas Kriss (1996-2013)

Classic. Real classic. What I can say? This Modenas Kriss introduced by PDRM Trafic Divisions in 1996, and replaced to Kawasaki Ninja at 2013, although you still can see a few of this motorcycle until today.
This motorcycle only used for patrolling at district, and its never be an pursuit motorcycle. But most novice police uses this model as their new assignment. Most of this motorcycle is currently replaced to brand new Kawasaki Ninja 300.

  5. Kawasaki KLX 250 (1985-2005, replaced to KLX250S until present)

Okey, this is the bike that you should not mess with. Kawasaki KLX250 is a scrambler motor cross that used by PDRM for off road patrol, Search and Rescue and Search and Destroy. Hell, impressive right. Kawasaki KLX250 replaced to a four stroke Kawasaki KLX250S. So what do you think now? Doing outlaw in the jungle is a good idea?
This motorcycle used by PDRM and PGA, Ranger Force to patrol illegal activities like deforestation, and illegal logging. Its also used to find criminal that hiding in the jungle. So, PDRM cool!

  6. Kawasaki Ninja 300 (2013-present)

Okey everyone. This is a nightmare for those mat-rempit out there. This Kawasaki Ninja is not just and ordinary Ninja, Its upgrade and installed racing spec parts, that makes this super bike could go faster than usual. Even most of the time they used to patrolling, but this super bike is a special pursuit unit. In other words, you should not mess whenever you see this beast on the road.
So the conclusion here, Polis DiRaja Malaysia are committed to keep Malaysian people safe. So they wont fall behind like the other country. Our Malaysian Police Force has high standard as Indonesia, Singapore and others country around Asia. Their skill are good on handling patrol car like Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, and also as super bike like Kawasaki Ninja 300. Show Them respect that they deserve. Have a good day people~
